I saw Ally of Multifandomedbookblogger do this and of course, my diva self can’t help but do this post also. There are so many books that “I should have read” that I didn’t and let me stick to those books that are really well-known.
- ALL JANE AUSTEN BOOKS.
Like how embarrassing is that? I should have probably read this because literature and shit, but really. I would rather read murder and lies than read something about petticoats and teas.
2. HARPER LEE’S TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD (and of course, Go Set A Watchman)
Rest in peace to Harper Lee.
I do have a copy of TKaM but I never got the chance or the will to read it because when I was 9, my mom gave it to me as an assignment (with matching questions that should be answered after reading the book) and I find it reading as a chore so I rebelled the fuck out and ignored the book until now.
3.DIANA GABALDON’S OUTLANDER
Because as much as I love men in kilts and Scottish accents, I’m still on “thinking-about-it” stage with this book. I don’t know man.. there’s something about this book that scares me.
4. JOJO MOYES’S ME BEFORE YOU
Because I’m a piece of shit that get’s easily swayed but brain-candy books instead of books with quality. I will read this before the movie gets out . I swear that on Sam Claflin’s hot body.
5. MICHELLE HODKIN’S MARA DYER SERIES
I do want to read this because a lot of people say it’s good. I’m just being an idiot because I’m still waiting for the divine sign that it’s the right time to read the series.
So that’s it. There are so many books that are not in this list, but I want to keep it short. How about you? What books are you ashamed that you haven’t read yet? Feel free to share.
xoxo,
Paige
I’m exactly the same with all of the choices you picked in your post above! Hopefully I will get round to reading some of these further on into the year 🙂

I also haven’t read any of the books you posted! However, with the exception of Me Before You and Outlander, I don’t really plan on reading any of them.

I haven’t read ANY of the books above either and THE SHAME. We had Pride and Prejudice as a school book but it wasn’t one that was needed to be read – all we really did with it was watch the BBC show. I was about 25 pages in (?) and then I stopped. It wasn’t bad, but in the moment I just wasn’t feeling it XD
I’m planning on getting the Classics Reimagined edition and reading the WHOLE book the next time round. I NEED Classics Reimagined books so bad! Every single one is gorgeous, I especially want (this one and) the Edgar Allen Poe edition!
Anyway, excuse me going off topic 😛 I need to read Me Before you before the movie comes out as well so I need to get onto that soon! I also really want to read Cinder which I have just waiting to be read on my shelf :O It seems so good but I haven’t had the time with all these other books needing to be read for book groups and things like that.
ALSO TFIOS, I know, I’m so late – I haven’t read the book, haven’t watched the movie. I don’t if Im going to either as well, but just about everyone has and I’m just sitting here completely confused!
Lastly (though like you this list could go on for a VERY long time) the rest of the Harry Potter series. I mean, I not putting myself too down because I DID read the first book this month, but again, EVERYONE loves it, and when I read the first, I LOVE IT. I NEED to buy the whole series and just marathon my war through the whole thing 🙂
LikeLike
Lol you better read the book of TFIOS first before the movie. The film leftout the really good part. And yeeees. MBY should be read bfore watchinh thrmovie. It’s definitely a must.i’ve been putting it off because Im scared of reading it . Haha. And it’s okay to slow down on the HP series. I didnt even finish the series until i was in highschool 🙂

I definitely will be reading both before the movies, don’t worry XD This year has been a great year on buying books but I’m not doing well on the spending and saving money ratio so I’m probably going into a book buying ban soon (I said that a few days ago and then I went on and bought a book today, as you can see, not too good at this!) 🙂 Harry Potter will unfortunately be left until then!

Ha! same with you. I usually buy books in bulk then go into saving time. 🙂

Don’t worry- I share your shame in not having read Outlander- and there are a gazillion other books I’m ashamed not to have read. I really recommend Austen and To Kill a Mockingbird (though I have no intention of reading Go Set a Watchman). I’ve read the first Mara Dyer book and won’t be continuing with that series either. But I do really want to read Me Before You

Lol i dont even know the story of TKAM so it’s a must for me. Whats wrong with Mara?
LikeLiked by 1 person
It’s wonderful! I highly recommend it. And I didn’t like Mara for a number of reasons: it was too cliche, it was too confusing, and I didn’t care about any of the characters but loads of other people like it, so there must be something in it I missed

Meh. Then I probably wouldnt reas it either then 🙂

1) Jane Austen is BORING. Like, I can’t. Pride and Prejudice is one of the dullest books I’ve ever read, and my partner is crime (aka coblogger) Tash says that’s just her style. If you like tea parties, pretty dresses and marriage drama, it’s for you.
2) I wanna read TKAM too. There’s a BR in GR planned for around August. Maybe you’d want to join us? (Look for Ashley Hufflepuff Kitten. It’s in her review of TKAM the details of the BR)
3) Thank God The Monstrumologist is not part of this list, or else… I’d better not say, ha!
4) I love your voice! Haha, I had never read a discussion of yours before, but really, I love it!
Sorry for the long comment, but I had lots to say. 😉

Awwww. I wuv this. I read regency romance so in a way, I think it’s given that I should read Austen but I just cant get myself into it. hahaha. TKAM is a must this year. I’ll join ya on august. I’ll check out Ashley’s post 🙂 and of course TM is not here. Woman, that series is a favorite!hahaha

I used to feel the same way about not having read popular books or critically acclaimed books. But I don’t really care anymore. I have soo many books to read currently, so I’m happy. Also, one of my goals is to read books that other people may not read, so I think books like Jane Austen’s and Harper Lee’s have been read by so many people that I can definitely wait until I’m ready to read them (To be clear, I’ve read 3 Austen books and 1 Harper Lee book :p)

Out of these, the only ones I’ve read are Pride and Prejudice and Mansfield Park. And only because they were on my syllabus. If you’re not interested in them you shouldn’t force yourself to read them! I wasn’t a very big fan of them, though Pride and Prejudice started quite humorously.
I think I’m going to have to read Me Before You too, even though romance isn’t my thing. The hype just gets to me @_@ And I know I’ll end up watching the movie and I want to have read the book first.

You have to read Pride and Prejudice (and watch the movie) its my favorite. I also haven’t read everything else on the list though if it makes you feel better 🙂

I’d probably watch the movie though the book might have to wait 🙂

I haven’t read To Kill a Mockingbird either (we didn’t have to read it for school) and quiet honestly I have no desire to do so. It just doesn’t interest me, that might change in the future, but right now I have no desire to read it.
I do however love Jane Austen books. I have read five of her books and really enjoyed them all. Pride and Prejudice is my favourite, closely followed by Persuasion. 😀

I might watch P&P with zombies.. does that count? Hahaha. I’d probably do a challenge with all Austen books in order for me to read them .:)

OMG it’s like you read my mind while writing this post, if I were to write it my choices would be THE EXCACT SAME (except I’ve read the first book in the Mara Dyer trilogy). I neeeeeed to read Jane Austen’s books and Harper Lee’s, so many books, so little time…

You will love Pride and Prejudice, I promise 🙂 Northanger abbey is also a good intro into Austen. I couldn’t get through Emma and I don’t think many people like Mansfield Park, but P&P, Persuasion & Northanger are good.
Books I’m scared to read….my husband dug out a number of heavy sci-fi books by David Webber and I just find all the technical stuff a bit much. Also… war and peace, too long! 🙂

I’ve always wondered about war and peace. How difficult is that book actually? I once read a statement that it’s an accomplishment to finish W&P… lol

I haven’t read Nrs. 1, 3 and 5 either but 3 and 5 don’t make me feel ashamed. Lol. It’s just Nr. 1 and I promise to read a Jane Austen book this year.^^
