TAG: My Intimidating TBR

Book Tag My Intimidating TBR thewildreaders

I saw the lovely Lauren of wonderlessreviews do this post and I know I have to do it too because my TBR is actually higher than my accomplishments in life and that’s quite scary. Oh,do check Lauren’s post. It’s really cute 🙂

What book have you been unable to finish?

17331819

◄ I DNFed this one because it’s a racist pile of *toot* and the heroine is a spoiled brat.

Even though I was very picky, wore only designer clothes, and had a monthly allowance bigger than what most people my age earned in a year, I was by no means a snob.

What book have you yet to read because you just haven’t had the time?

27973757

◄ I have an ebook copy of this one but I really don’t have the time to read it. I admit the cover caught my attention but the blurb hooked me.

What book have you yet to read because it’s a sequel?

17927395

◄ I haven’t read A Court of Thorns and Roses yet but I might be reading it sooner than expected because so many people said that the second book (A Court of Mist and Fury) is so much better than the 1st book.

What book have you yet to read because it’s a new release?

25810644

◄ I know I know. This was released last month but I’m dying to read it because the blurb is really good. YA + Magical Realism + Mystery sounds good to me. ♥

What book have you yet to read because you read a book by the same author and didn’t like it?

27270657

◄ I didn’t liked the author’s other work (The Dead House) but the Creeper Man sound like my cup of tea. I feel like the Dead House’s blurb spoiled some things for me that’s why I wasn’t able to appreciate the twist but The Creeper Man’s is just plain perfect.

What book have you yet to read because you aren’t in the mood?

17061

◄ My friends said this is one of the creepiest books that they have read and I still have to test that claim. I’m not really much of a fan of Gaiman but I’m willing to read this one all for the name of “creepy books”. If only I can just find the right mood to read this….

What book have you yet to read because it’s humongous?

830502

◄ Hello 1000+ pages it’s me,the Queen of Procrastination.

I’ve been meaning to read this for months now, but I just can’t do it. If you’ve finished this, I salute you. 1000+ is too much for me.

What book have you yet to read because it was a cover buy with bad reviews?

19278261

◄ Most of my  friends gave this one either a DNF or a 2 star rating. Despite the low ratings, I still bought a copy because look at the cover.Look at the hair. Look at the title and look, it’s a fairytale retellings with a twist. It’ll look good in my shelf.LOL

Which book on your TBR is the most intimidating to you?

23492630

◄ ALL OF MY FRIENDS GAVE THIS A GLOWING REVIEW AND I’M SCAAAAAARED.

and that’s it! I’ll be tagging some new friends here on WP and some people who I haven’t talked for quite some time now. If you’ve already did this tag, feel free to ignore it. No pressure guys. ♥

TAG:The Skyrim Book Tag

skyrimlogo2

Thank you  Ariana ” the quirky book nerd” for tagging us with this one. I don’t play Skyrim because I’m a loser. I only play Clash of Clans, sorry.

Anyway, let’s begin this unique tag. ♥

Fus Ro Dah – A book that blew you away.

Your head should be covered with condom while reading this because it’ll blow your mind. Brandon Sanderson is a master when it comes to screwing the minds of his readers.

Dovahkiin – Favorite “chosen one” story.

This is the only series with the “Chosen One” cliche that I love. The rest are shitty as fuck.

Thu’um – A book that got a verbal reaction out of you (good or bad).

Good– I love this book. I cursed and ranted and fangirled for almost two weeks after reading this. There’s something about this book that fucks your mind and it hooks you until you moved on..

22886110

Bad– Fuck this book. Racist, misogynistic and downright insulting.

Arrow to the Knee – A book or series that started out well but ended up being disappointing.

I also thought of Red Queen like Ariana, but this one really took the number one place for this item. It was really promising but it fell flat after the romance was introduced. Like bitch, focus on your task! Priorities, girl!Don’t be swayed by sweet words and hot bodies!

Shadowmere – Favorite literary/fictional animal or pet.

So you might not be familiar with this book. It was a random find for me and I loved this one despite being a difficult book to read. The most badass goat in literature can be found in this book. Don’t mess with the goat. It kicks ass.

description

Review in GR.

Alduin – Most frightening literary/fictional animal.

6420846

Well, not exactly like that, but rats are pretty horrible in this book.

Companions Guild – Best literary friendship.

Like really. Such selfless love between Jem and Will. The bromance and respect for each other is one of my favorite parts in TID.

Dark Brotherhood – The darkest story you’ve ever read.

7171771

‘Yes, my dear child, monsters are real. I happen to have one hanging in my basement.’

This. This is my favorite book (series) and it’s really dark, despite being a YA book. Monsters, not just the fairytale kind but also monsters inside us humans are told in this book. A story about a doctor who studies monsters and his young assistant, this book asks the readers a question: when will they become the very thing that they hunt?

Thieves Guild – Favorite morally ambiguous character.

Kelsier of Mistborn. I love the way his character is something that borderlines between good and not so good. He’s a thief and his morals are really questionable.

Wuld Nah Kest (whirlwind sprint) – Your fastest read.

20643052

An easy peasy read ♥

Tiid Klo Ul (slow time) – Your slowest read.

So slow, to the point that I haven’t even moved from page 1.

Tamriel – Favorite fictional world.

Bonus Question:

“Sworn to Carry Your Burdens” – The heaviest book you own.

The complete works of Sherlock Holmes ♥

I tag everyone because for some reason, I can’t open my friends’ blogs.

Go ahead and try this tag if you want. It’s quite fun ♥

xoxo,

PAIGE

TAG: The Dimsum Tag

The Dim Sum Book Tag

(This tag was created by Joey of ThoughtsandAfterthoughts and Jenna of ReadingwithJenna. Dim sum is a style of Chinese cuisine whereby food is served in small (tapas-like) portions and is common during yum cha (which literally means: drinking tea). This tag is inspired by good company and good eats.)

Thank you Cat of TheBookFinch for nominating moi to do this tag. Dimsum is love, dimsum is life.

HERE ARE SOME RULES TO DEVOUR THIS TAG:

  • Thank the blogger who nominated you, linking back to their site.
  • Devour dim sum and answer the tag questions.
  • Tag five others to join your round table for some dim sum fun.
  • Food coma.

TEA:
A BOOK THAT STARTED OFF HOT BUT QUICKLY TURNED COLD.

Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard

Meh. It started really good for me but when the love triangle kicked in, it went downhill after that. Idiots started coming out and it ruined a should-have one of  my best reads in 2015

CHIU CHOW DUMPLING:
A BOOK THAT FEATURES ELEMENTS OF LAND AND SEA.

Rolling in the Deep by Mira Grant

Monster mermaids, man. One of the best sci-fi books that I’ve read.A story about a documentary gone wrong in the middle of the Marianas Trench.

RICE NOODLE ROLL:
A FAVOURITE MULTILAYERED CHARACTER YOU’VE READ (I.E. TRAITS? SKILLS? MORALLY AMBIGUOUS?)

The Dragon in Uprooted

His character reminds me of Sherlock Holmes (Benedict Cumberbatch) when it comes to rudeness and giving shade. He’s arrogant, downright patronizing and very very sexy. I love his character development and the ending of the book was perfect.

SHRIMP DUMPLING:
A BOOK WITH A TRANSPARENT BLURB THAT GIVES THE STORY AWAY.

The Dead Girls of Hysteria Hall by Katie Alexander

Ehh. I like this book but I just hoped that it didn’t give away too much in the blurb. I could have been surprised with some good things, but I didn’t. Because guess who spoiled me in it? The blurb.

STEAMED BBQ PORK BUNS:
A BOOK THAT IS FLUFFY ON THE OUTSIDE BUT PACKS A PUNCH OF FLAVOUR (E.G. MESSAGE? DEPTH? CONTROVERSY?)

Wonder by R.J Palacio

Don’t be fooled just because this book is a middle grade book. This has one hell of a punch and one of the greatest books that has ever been published.

I won’t describe what I look like. Whatever you’re thinking, it’s probably worse.

August (Auggie) Pullman was born with a facial deformity that prevented him from going to a mainstream school – until now. He’s about to start 5th grade at Beecher Prep, and if you’ve ever been the new kid then you know how hard that can be. The thing is Auggie’s just an ordinary kid, with an extraordinary face. But can he convince his new classmates that he’s just like them, despite appearances?

CHICKEN FEET:
A BOOK WITH DIVIDED OPINIONS.

Twilight by Stephenie Meyer

I’m not really a fan of this because sparkling vampires are not in my top list of fantasy but a lot of my friends loved this book.

LOTUS-WRAPPED STICKY RICE:
A BOOK YOU’VE RECEIVED/GIVEN THAT WAS NICELY PACKAGED

The Darkest Part of the Forest by Holly Black

I love the cover of this book and my friend Daniel gave this to me.Even though I rated this 3 stars, the cover is still beautiful enough for it to find its place in my book shelf.

EGG CUSTARD TART:
A BOOK THAT USES SIMPLE INGREDIENTS AND CLICHÉS BUT EXECUTES IT PERFECTLY

Sincerely, Carter by Whitney Garcia Williams

You can’t get more cliche than best friends-turn-to-lovers but this book is so cute and simple.

MANGO PUDDING WITH EVAPORATED MILK:
ANY BOOK RECOMMENDATION AND BEVERAGE/SNACK THAT’S A WINNING COMBINATION

Dangerous Girls by Abigail Haas

It’s Spring Break of senior year. Anna, her boyfriend Tate, her best friend Elise, and a few other close friends are off to a debaucherous trip to Aruba that promises to be the time of their lives. But when Elise is found brutally murdered, Anna finds herself trapped in a country not her own, fighting against vile and contemptuous accusations. As Anna sets out to find her friend’s killer, she discovers harsh revelations about her friendships, the slippery nature of truth, and the ache of young love. Awaiting the judge’s decree, it becomes clear to Anna that everyone around her thinks she is not only guilty, but also dangerous. And when the whole story comes out, reality is more shocking than anyone could ever imagine…

I feel like Mango Float and Dangerous Girls is the best combination for me. Tropical trip with a dash of murder.Yum.

FRIED SESAME BALLS:
A BOOK COVER WITH EMBOSSED TEXT/DESIGN YOU JUST LOVE TO RUN YOUR FINGERS OVER

Can’t think of something.

DIM SUM STEAM CART:
THE TYPE OF CARRYING BAG YOU USE TO BRING BOOKS AROUND

I read on my phone and  tablet whenever I went out. Books are heavy, man.

I tag!

Cath of Trust in Words

Matti of Bookly Hallows

Kelly of Stellar Scrutiny

Stefanie of Your Daughter’s Bookshelf

And you if you wanna do this tag. ♥

3 Days 3 Quote Challenge: Day III

THE RULES:

1) Thank the person who nominated you.
2) Post a quote for three consecutive days.
3) Nominate three new bloggers each day.

Last day nerds and again, I would like to thank Kelly (Stellar Scrutiny) for tagging me (click the link to see the 3rd day of her challenge). Did you receive the cookies?

I found the quote of the day in Tumblr. If you guys have a Tumblr account (btw, here’s mine: Paige’s Tumblr) , you’ll know that there are some really good posts in there and I found this one really cute and smart. I don’t know who the writer is (there’s no source) so I can’t give credits to that person. The only thing that is available is the writer’s initials (I think). So, whoever you are, thank you for sharing this quote and thank you to all those participated in this challenge.

I tag!

3 Days 3 Quote Challenge: Day II

THE RULES:

1) Thank the person who nominated you.
2) Post a quote for three consecutive days.
3) Nominate three new bloggers each day.

It’s the second day of the 3 DAYS 3 QUOTE CHALLENGE and I’m still going strong folks. This second quote is still related to lurrve and I got this one from my favorite page in Facebook.  The Artidote is a Facebook page that is curated by Jovanny V. Ferreyra  *I have a major crush on this guy whoever he is* and it posts stories, quotes and other wonderful things through art.  (See Jovanny? I promoted your page. Notice me senpai.)

Right. Enough flirting. This is the quote for the day:

3 Days 3 Quote Challenge

I’m secretly hoping that someone will tag me with this challenge because I’m a loser kind of an individual who can’t do things without being pushed to. Just kidding.

No, wait. I’m not.

Thank you so much Kelly (Stellar Scrutiny) for tagging me. I’ll send you lots and lots of cookies…

THE RULES:

1) Thank the person who nominated you.
2) Post a quote for three consecutive days.
3) Nominate three new bloggers each day.

It’s almost V.D, which unfortunately is not the abbreviation of Vagina Day but of Valentines Day. The day where flowers are being exploited and everyone is being flooded by chocolates and love songs. So I’m going to use a quote which is related to lurrve.

The unlucky quote I choose today is…

This beautiful (is this a poem?IDK) quote by David Jones can be found in Love and Space Dust… Seriously. Just read it.

TAG:The Book Love Tag

book love tag

Because it’s almost Valentines Day (eww) my friend Annette created this wonderful tag. I like this tag because I shipped so many couples in the literary world. I hope ya’ll can do this. It’s quite fun 🙂

Fantasy: That would be Valek and Yelena from Poison Study Series. Valek is just so sexy and their love for each other is constant and unwavering. Both lived in a different country and both are number one on “the most feared individual of the year ” so…they rock.

Valek & Yelena:

Contemporary: I choose Drew Runous and Ashley Winston of Beauty and the Mustache. Drew is dreamy and is the combination of a Viking God and a poet. I swooned when I read his poems for Ashley..

“If I told you I love you now
How many seconds would it take
How long would you allow
All that I am to break
I turn away
Before you can see
How badly I need you to stay
With me”

You are not here.:

  1. Valek baby
  2. Kell of A Darker Shade of Magic
  3. Percy Jackson (bae)

Valek would probably propose quietly to Yelena seeing that information like this (them being a couple) could put their lives in danger. Drew on the other hand, would probably write love notes for Ashley to find..

Oh a lot. Let’s see. There’s the Twilight pairing that makes me puke, the Selection pairing and that Red Queen galore. I hate all of them.

My least favorite would be that step-brother romance. It sounds incestuous. And that “easily swayed by the hero because he’s got washboard abs and sparkling brown eyes” trope that is mainly found in NA books. I hate that shit.

My favorite one is the slow-paced kind of love. Like if there’s gonna be 3 books in the series, I would rather have my OTP declare their undying love for each other on the last book because I sure as hell know that if they say ILY in the first book, either one will die , there will be another person to butt in thus making it a love triangle or something bad will happen to the MC and all of that would probably happen in the 2nd book.

10x21 Dark Dynasty:

‘Nuff said.

#HATE

Wax and Wayne’s bromance. Like they are the bestest of best friends. I love it when authors give the readers some main characters that love each other genuinely.

“Of course not. I’d have shot you right in the head, Wayne.”
“You’re a good friend,” Wayne said. “Thanks, Wax.”
“You’re the only person I know that I can cheer up by promising to kill him.”

Valek and Yelena: When Valek disguises as the Lord Commander just to see Yelena on the other country. That was very hard to do because a lot of magicians are around and Valek can get caught which might caused a war between 2 countries..

Drew and Ashley: When Drew talks about books with Ashley. Ashley is a bookworm and to find someone who understands the power of words and share it with you is too precious..

Valek would probably sneak in into Sitia just to see Yelena and they would probably go into the Illiais Jungle just for Yelena to spend time with her family and for Valek to be with her without the fear of being discovered by spies.

Drew and Ashley would probably have a hot sex.

So that’s it. I enjoyed doing this tag and it makes me remember my favorite couples and their stories.. Gonna do a reread soon.

I tag everyone! You guys are welcome to do this ♥

Btw, here are the questions for easy copy-pasting:

1. Your favorite book couple.
2. Your top 3 book boy/girlfriends.
3. Imagine your favorite book couple. Who would propose, and how? (If there’s already been a proposal: who would be more into organizing the wedding?)
4. Unpopular opinions time! Name a popular pairing you can’t stand.
5. What’s your favorite and least favorite romance trope?
6. Do you ship non-canon couples often? Name some if you do.
7. Your opinion on love triangles. Go!
8. Favorite and least favorite love triangle?
9. Sometimes romance just isn’t the way to go. Favorite friendship?
10. What’s your favorite scene with your bookish OTP?
11. Imagine your favorite book couple again. Who’s most excited about Valentine’s Day (either ironically or genuinely)?
