Discussion: Book Boyfriends (yes I have tons)

Confession 1: I love a lot of guys.

Confession 2: They are all fictional.

There is NOTHING better than that feeling of falling in love with a book boyfriend for the very first time.:

Let’s be honest, part of being a bookworm is falling in love with a certain hero/character and the more you read, the more book boyfriends you’ll have. But what is a book boyfriend?

It’s when you consider a certain character very attractive and his traits are something that you obsess  in a potential boyfriend.

I tried compiling my book boyfriends and put them into different categories. Some of them might differ in you opinion and you might add some things about them. I would love to hear your side and it’s much fun if we share book boyfriends to each other.

YA Charming Book Boyfriends- The type where you’re just helplessly in love with them because they stole your heart with their winks, their words and their actions.

  1. Augustus Waters of The Fault in Our Stars: Tell me. Tell me if Gus isn’t charming and I’ll swallow a big marshmallow without even chewing it. This dude is endearing and just look at this.

Augustus Waters + Hazel Grace Lancaster = PERFECTION.:

SWOON!

2. Carswell Thorne of The Lunar Chronicles: I’m really not into Princes so Kai is not in my list. But a dashing captain/thief who is a proclaimed ladies man? Count me in.

The Lunar Chronicles (Marissa Meyer) - Captain Carswell Thorne:

Swoon again.

3. Adrian Ivashkov of Vampire Academy and Bloodlines series: Let’s just say I’m fascinated with dashing vampire with green eyes.

Adrian Ivashkov from Bloodlines and The vampire academy series haha:

YA boyfriends who are sarcastic / has a dry wit: boys who says the silliest and the most sarcastic things but you still can’t help but be charmed with them.

  1. Will Herondale: Will freaking Herondale. There’s something really classy and amazing with a character who is British and hilariously vain. I love how selfless Will is when it comes to his friends and for Tessa and (spoiler alert) MY HEART BROKE WHEN HE HAD A BREAKDOWN WHEN HE THOUGHT JEM DIED AND THEIR PARABATAI BOND WAS BROKEN.

// Will Herondale // Tessa Gray // TID // Quotes // Cassandra Clare // why is there a river on my face? Does anyone know what life is?:

2. Percy Jackson : My middle grade self was in love with him when it was still the PJO series. My Young Adult self is still in love with him after the Heroes of Olympus series because guuuurl. If you need a demigod to fell in love with, it’s PERSEUS JACKSON that you need.

Percy Jackson, just, just Percy. *whispers* i love you, you beautiful idiot:

↑ THIS ↑ is truer than true. I am SO in love with Percy, but I can't help but adoooooorre Percabeth!:
YA Boyfriends who are the protector type: boys who are known for selflessly protecting their loved ones.Swoon.

  1. Kell of A Darker Shade of Magic : Kell Kell Kell. If you’ve read ADSOM, either you have a crush on Rhys or Kell or both. You can’t deny it. And how can you resist Kell when his coat is one of the most amazing fictional stuff ever. And I ship the bromance of Kell and Rhys.

Kell - A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab:

Rhy and Kell from A Darker Shade of Magic by victoria-ying on DeviantArt:

2. Rowan Whitehorn of the “Throne of Glass”series: If ever I would be given a chance to have a partner in crime,I would choose Rowan. He’s a great fighter, he’s loyal and he’s hot.

19 Times Ron Weasley Was Actually The Best Character In "Harry Potter": “Weasley is our King,Weasley is our King,He didn’t let the Quaffle in Weasley is our King.”:
3. Park Sheridan of Eleanor and Park: This dude is the best. I don’t usually read contemporary YA but there’s something with Park that is different with the usual YA hero. He’s selfless and kind and has the most beautiful soul ever.

Danemar Calise:

Not interesting:

So these are my book boyfriends and I lurrrve them all.Who are your book boyfriends? Feel free to share.

Books with male POV

I’m sure you guys notice that when it comes to YA (or sometimes adult ) books, male POV is rare. Maybe it’s because most authors are female and it’s usually easy to write a story with a point of view from a gender that is more familiar or maybe because it’s the “norm”? I mean, romance is usually female’s territory that’s why adult books such as regency and contemporary romance is usually written by a woman.

Anyway, I love reading books that is in a male’s perspective. Most of the books with male narration always gets a high rating from me because

1 . Fictional males are less whiny than fictional females.

2 .  They are (usually) hilarious.

3 . As a girl, I find it fascinating to know how a male mind works.

I have compiled some YA and MG books that I’ve read with a full male pov (that means that it doesn’t have a shared female pov in the entire story).

Discussion: 10 Deaths of Literary Characters That Ruined Me

Death can’t be avoided even in books and stories. I’ve read so many books and I’ve had cried and mourned for so many characters that authors have killed all for the sake of a beautiful story. No I’m not bitter. Don’t mind my tone. So I made a list of characters whose death emotionally ruined me. If you have some things to add, feel free to share. We should band together and cry our hearts out.

  1. Augustus Waters of The Fault in Our Stars

Like is it fucking possible for a single boy to make me cry an ocean in the middle of the night because he died?

Nope. Not possible. Na ah.Oh wait. I did.

2. Sirius Black of Harry Potter series

I’m telling you mate. The universe is a cruel thing. I still can’t fucking believe that Sirius died. My heart broke for Harry because Sirius should be his way out of the Dursleys for good but noooo. He has to fucking die and I can’t take it… *cue sobbing*

3.Leslie Burke from The Bridge to Terabithia

Shhh. I’m trying to forget this one. My heart.. my poor crippled heart.

4.Finnick Odair of The Hunger Games

Fuck.

5. Fred Weasley of The Harry Potter

You think some characters are safe because there’s only a few pages left in the book so you’re kinda relaxed and then the author pulled this twist and you can’t believe it so you have to go back and read it again and read it again because how could this happen? Fred Weasley died and you just sit there in your chair for a minute and contemplate how in the world could you survive in this universe without FRED FUCKING WEASLEY.

6. Fili and Kili of The Hobbit.

Sorry, I didn’t read the book but watched the movie instead. It was horrible. I cried in the theaters because I love these two and the scene was heartbreaking. Damn you Tolkien.

7. Thorin Oakenshield of The Hobbit.

While we’re at it, why not rub salt to the wound and add Thorin in the list. I really wished he’ll have a happy ending because this dude deserves it. But noo. Let’s kill him, they said. It will be fun, they said.

Thorin Oakenshield

8. Khal freaking Drogo

He’s a bastard at first but this dude really grew on me and I love his and Dany’s relationship in the later part of their story. But then this is the world of GRRM so why not kill him?Let’s break our fans hearts and kill their happiness.

Daenerys Targaryen Khal Drogo. The look he gives the Khaleesi is sooooooooo romantic.:

9. Remus and Tonks of Harry Potter series

Oh no. It’s not enough to kill Remus. Rowling  have to kill Tonks as well.  It’s not enough to break the fans’ hearts. She has to crush it.

Remus and Tonks..... It was just SOO wrong for JK to kill them... SOO WRONG ON SOOOOOOO MANYYYY LEVELSSS!!!!!:

9. Albus Dumbledore

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince is the least of my favorite books in the series because of this fuckward shit. Dumblrdore’s death really shook me because we’re in the middle of the freaking war and the general just died.  Cruel. Just plain cruel.

10. Robb Stark of Game of Thrones

One word: Heartbreaking.

And did you see what happened to his wife?Terrible.

So here it is.Excuse me while I fall apart.

P.S:  I tried to stick to the well-known books and movies so that I won’t be accused of giving massive spoilers. If you were spoiled by something, please don’t hit me. 😛

What are your  most painful character’s death moment? Feel free to share ♥

I’m sure I’m not the only one who love freebies so I decided to share with you my favorite thing next to a naked Chris Evans and cinnamon rolls. That is: FREE BOOKS.

All these freebies were either found in Goodreads, recommended by a friend , just accidentally stumbled upon or has been thoroughly stalked. I hope you enjoy these stories and you can share them to others too.

Just click the titles and the author and it will direct you to the link or the site where you can read it for free.

  1. A Death by Stephen King

25053608

Jim Trusdale had a shack on the west side of his father’s gone-to-seed ranch, and that was where he was when Sheriff Barclay and half a dozen deputized townsmen found him, sitting in the one chair by the cold stove, wearing a dirty barn coat and reading an old issue of the Black Hills Pioneer by lantern light. Looking at it, anyway.

–My first King read. It was quite nice and I didn’t expect that it would end that way. This also reminds me of a certain Tom Hanks movie. If you had read this, you know which movie I’m talking about. ♥

2.Ballroom Blitz by Veronica Schanoes

24889080

“Ballroom Blitz” by Veronica Schanoes is a contemporary fairy tale about a young man, who with his eleven brothers, have been cursed to remain in a rock club for their bad behavior. Their only shot at freedom might be the twelve sisters who one day enter the club.

— A unique retelling of the 12 Dancing Princesses. Trust me, you better read this.

3. Men Who Wish To Drown by Elizabeth Fama

15795030

From the Falmouth Historical Society Collection

Cited as the only extant firsthand record of a mermaid encounter in New England waters, this deathbed letter from a great-grandfather to his great-grandson is more likely an instructive fiction–a parable of regret. Supposedly corroborating the mermaid story, a ship’s log (in the collections of the Provincetown Historical Museum) of the schooner Hannah, which plucked Mr. Stanton from South Weepecket in 1788, indicates that the crew saw two figures on the island prior to his rescue, but failed to locate a second victim. However, regarding accuracy and reliability, this is the same crew, under Captain John Merriweather, that reported sightings of a ghost ship and not one, but two sea monsters. ~~James S. Rucker, Archivist, Family Collections, Falmouth Historical Society, 1924

Companion story to Monstrous Beauty.

–It’s better if you read the story Monstrous Beauty before reading this short story. Men Who Wish To Drown is a sad tale and I think my heart broke a little after reading it.

4. The Maiden Thief by Melissa Marr

27883170

“The Maiden Thief” by Melissa Marr is a dark fantasy novelette about a teenager whose town is plagued by the annual disappearances of girls and young women. Her father blames her when one of her sisters is one of the taken.

–Probably the best short story that I’ve read so far.

5.Among the Thorns by Veronica Schanoes

21893683

Among the Thorns, by Veronica Schanoes, is a dark fantasy taking place in seventeenth century Germany, about a young woman who is intent on avenging the brutal murder of her peddler father many years earlier, by a vagabond with a magic fiddle.

–I asked for vengeance, I got an utterly satisfying story of a badass girl who punishes the bastard who killed her father.

Bonus short story if you’re a fan of Andy Weir (the dude who wrote The Martian)

Annie’s Day:

I didn’t want to wake up at 6am, especially on a Saturday. But the man I was cuddled up to was… a morning person.

My 11 mind f*cking books

Let’s all be  real. There’s always that book/ series that freaks you out so much you just have to say the f-word while reading it.

In my case, I have like tons and tons of those kinds books in my life. There’s always something addictive to mind-fucking book that some readers have to search and stalk listopias in Goodreads just to know what those books are. I for one thing love mind blowing books because predictability is something that bores out of me.

The beauty of reading books that shocks you (or scares the living hell out of you) is that it challenges your mind to think. Who is the killer? What kind of thing did that?Where is the murder weapon? Is everything real or I’m just plain crazy?

If you’re like me who just craves mind blowing books  then let’s be besties  hurrah! I have listed 11 books that really bothers me and I hope it’ll fuck you in the head like it did to mind. (These are mind-blowing books which shouldn’t be confused to “emotional books that fucks me”.)

  1. Underneath by Kealan Patrick Burke
    10080944

For Dean, it begins with a dare, one that comes with the threat of violence if he chickens out. All he has to do is date Stephanie Watts, a disfigured girl who is the pariah at their high school.

Dean agrees, and soon discovers that there is much more to Stephanie Watts than anyone dared imagine, and deadlier secrets awaiting him…underneath.

• For a book so short, it leaves a long lasting impression to its readers. If you have never read any Burke book, then you better start with this.

2.Midwinterblood by Marcus Sedgwick

15794941

Seven stories of passion and love separated by centuries but mysteriously intertwined—this is a tale of horror and beauty, tenderness and sacrifice.

An archaeologist who unearths a mysterious artifact, an airman who finds himself far from home, a painter, a ghost, a vampire, and a Viking: the seven stories in this compelling novel all take place on the remote Scandinavian island of Blessed where a curiously powerful plant that resembles a dragon grows. What binds these stories together? What secrets lurk beneath the surface of this idyllic countryside? And what might be powerful enough to break the cycle of midwinterblood? From award-winning author Marcus Sedgwick comes a book about passion and preservation and ultimately an exploration of the bounds of love.

• If you find the blurb intriguing, go read this. If you don’t find it intriguing, you still better read it.  Here’s a tip when it comes to reading a Sedgwick book, you have to read it until the end. It all makes sense in the ending.

3. Wayward Pines series by Blake Crouch

15034320  Secret service agent Ethan Burke arrives in Wayward Pines, Idaho, with a clear mission: locate and recover two federal agents who went missing in the bucolic town one month earlier. But within minutes of his arrival, Ethan is involved in a violent accident. He comes to in a hospital, with no ID, no cell phone, and no briefcase. The medical staff seems friendly enough, but something feels…off.

As the days pass, Ethan’s investigation into the disappearance of his colleagues turns up more questions than answers. Why can’t he get any phone calls through to his wife and son in the outside world? Why doesn’t anyone believe he is who he says he is? And what is the purpose of the electrified fences surrounding the town? Are they meant to keep the residents in? Or something else out? Each step closer to the truth takes Ethan further from the world he thought he knew, from the man he thought he was, until he must face a horrifying fact—he may never get out of Wayward Pines alive.

•The kind of book that makes you wonder what the hell is going on.This is the type of book that’ll be a fave if your like it but a DNF if you don’t.

4. Jezebel by. K. Larsen

23160999

10 years of soul shattering love.
8 years of happy employment.

1 week of truth.
A lifetime of betrayal.

Would you have seen it coming?

This is the story that unfolds over the course of Annabelle’s court ordered six month sentence. Nothing is what it seems.

• Not a kinky book nor a dark book. This is story of 2 women connected with a lie and betrayal. I gotta admit,I didn’t see that certain twist coming and I have to await for the 2nd book to know another character’s side.

5&6. Dangerous Boys and Dangerous Girls by Abigail Haas

16074758

It’s Spring Break of senior year. Anna, her boyfriend Tate, her best friend Elise, and a few other close friends are off to a debaucherous trip to Aruba that promises to be the time of their lives. But when Elise is found brutally murdered, Anna finds herself trapped in a country not her own, fighting against vile and contemptuous accusations.

As Anna sets out to find her friend’s killer; she discovers hard truths about her friendships, the slippery nature of truth, and the ache of young love.

As she awaits the judge’s decree, it becomes clear that everyone around her thinks she is not just guilty, but dangerous. When the truth comes out, it is more shocking than one could ever imagine…

• It says something about the author when two of her books got a 4 or 5 star rating from all of my friends. It’s a bummer that Haas only has 2 books published yet because DG and DB are the ultimate mind-fucking books that I’ve ever read.

(Sidenote: The books are not part of a series or whatever. They can be read individually)

7. Asylum by Lily White

23352307

Words are funny things.

Their meaning, the pictures they paint in the minds of those that hear them: they’re not always the same and to me at least, that makes them meaningless.

Take for instance the phrase ‘black widow’. Those words conjure the image of a spider, an eight-legged creature with the red imprint of an hourglass on its abdomen.

However, instead of speaking of an arachnid, of the resident of a spindly and dew-laden web, the people who whisper those words are talking about something much different.
They’re talking about me.

From what I’m told, I’m called the Black Widow because no man I’ve ever loved has survived.

Yet, I have no memory of any of it.

My new home leads me to the definition of another vague and meaningless word.

It’s a place where I’m supposed to seek refuge.

A place of retreat and security.

It’s a place where I’m supposed to be kept safe because I’m sick.

But the definition for this place is wrong and the word becomes meaningless when you’re tucked away and made silent by drugs and pretty white jackets.

My name is Alexandra Sutton and this is the story of what happened when I was imprisoned inside an Asylum

• Not usually a fan of dark abusive books but damn. This one is super insane. If you’re okay with erotica and BDSM,then give this one a go.

8. Newsflesh series by Mira Grant

7094569

• If you’ll just ignore the info-dump in this series, then I assure you that Feed will surprise you. It’s not about zombies. It’s about deep shit conspiracy.

9. and 10.Tell me your dreams and If Tomorrow Comes by Sidney Sheldon

43326

And Alette Peters prefers quiet weekends in the arms of a beefcake artist. 14554

With her intelligence and beauty as her only weapons, Tracy embarks on a series of extraordinary escapades that sweep her across the globe. In an explosive confrontation Tracy meets her equal in irresistible Jeff Stevens, whose past is as colorful as Tracy’s.

• Okay I’m cheating but you can never go wrong with a Sheldon book. Technically, all of his books are purely mindfuck but I choose the top two that really shocks and freaks me out.

11.  Twisted by Andrew E. Kaufman

23614038

The psychologist with a troubled past…

Dr. Christopher Kellan spends his days at Loveland Psychiatric Hospital, overseeing a unit known as Alpha Twelve, home to the most deranged and psychotic killers imaginable. His newest patient, Donny Ray Smith, is accused of murdering ten young girls and making their bodies disappear. But during his first encounter with Donny, Christopher finds something else unsettling: the man looks familiar.

The killer with a secret…

Donny Ray knows things about Christopher—things he couldn’t have possibly learned at Loveland. As the psychologist delves deeper into the mysterious patient’s case, Christopher’s life whirls out of control. The contours of his mind are rapidly losing shape, and his grasp on reality is slipping even faster. Is he going mad, or is that what Donny Ray wants him to think?

The terror that binds them…

In this taut psychological thriller from Andrew E. Kaufman, bestselling author of The Lion, the Lamb, the Hunted, a tormented man must face his fear and enter the mind of a killer to find the truth…even if it costs him his sanity.

• You know the book is fucked when you have to literally put it on hold because it’s fucking with your head. I tried reading it, it scares me and I’m only at chapter 3.I’m going to read it again when I’m ready because that’s just how good it is.

And that’s it. These are my top 11 books that made me a bit crazier. I’d love to hear what you think about these kind of books or if you’ve read one of these or if you have anything to add. Do share!

Discussion: Books that are in my “fuck-no” shelf

Hurrah! I’m back! I was very busy the last few days (weeks?) that’s why I wasn’t able to post much here. To all those new friends/bloggers that I wasn’t able to interact with, hello! I’m Paige, one of the bloggers here in The Wild Readers. My buddy Yasmin is the founder of this craziness and we’re very very harmless and nice that’s why don’t hesitate to say hi. 🙂

So I have here a list of books that are in my “fuck-no” shelf. These are the books that have certain “issues” about  the author  that can’t be said in Goodreads because “rules”, you know.

Translation: The authors of the following books are douches and has been a jerk with some readers and reviewers because of the low-rating and rant reviews about their books.

23208863

Author is a Capt. Douche and attacks a book reviewer in  their home. The evidence.

25154113

The author wrote a book about the the reviewer who gave his/her book a one star review.

Another “stalker-alert”. Apparently, it is okay to stalk and harass a reviewer and call that reviewer under false pretenses because they gave your book a low rating review.

Evidence # 1

Detailed account by my friend.

The blurb alone is enough reason why I gave this a giant fuck you.

Blurb:

If you are an Independent author, or even a published author thinking about joining Goodreads, I hope you will take a look at my free booklet and closely examine your motives before giving Goodreads, and thus Amazon, a bunch of free information that they will then own and control. If you believe that Goodreads ‘Review’ system is fair, you need to read about troll review attacks that are also documented widely on the Internet. And let me warn you about a number of broken features on the website that may affect your sales. The main thing you must understand, though, is that you are on the bottom of the food chain at Goodreads. You are the income that keeps the server farm humming but you are entering into an adversarial relationship, not only with the pampered readers but the overworked staff that doesn’t even know their own rules when they punish you because there are so damned many rules and the documentation is broken, outdated chaos.

The booklet is short and free. It provides a lot of links to information on the Internet that you should know and links to the documentation at Goodreads. If nothing else, at least read the first page and heed the warnings in the links provided.

18333999 It took me awhile to remember what’s wrong with this one. It seems that the author made a bingo-whatever and posted it in Twitter. In the said bingo card, the author is mocking the reviewers in Goodreads.

Not a nice move.

I’m not sure if you have read some of the books that are in here or if you know some books that are not in here. My point in creating this blog post is to let reviewers and readers know some things that could happen to them. Not all authors are jerks, but not all authors are saints. If something similar happened to you, let us know. The community should stand together when it comes to this kind of  issue.

Discussion: What’s with the “Girl Hate”?

End Girl Hate (#GirlLove): Learn Acceptance of Others. Lifestyle Blog.:

Last time, I talked about why is it annoying when YA authors usually do the romance thing between the male lead and the female lead instead of making them best buddies . This time, let’s talk about why Girl Hate is so rampant in YA books and why is it so frigging annoying.

Reader’s Problem:Trolls in the dungeon

Look, I’m an ass.  I don’t deny that fact. In fact, I try to tell my would-be friends in GR that I’m a horrible person and I bitch about certain things sometimes.

I gave low rating reviews, I usually have a snark reply to trolls and I’m very very bitchy if I get disappointed with a book.

I’m sharing this because I’m going to talk about review trolls for today’s post.

Discussion: Br♥mance

I dont know or care anything about this show, but I feel like this is an appropriate representation of our relationship.:

Okay that was cute. Back to the topic at hand, let’s talk about “bromance”. According to the Urban Dictionary..

First of all, let’s not confuse “bromance” to homosexual love. Homosexual love is between two homosexuals (obviously) while “bromance” is a slang for a close platonic relationship between two straight males. As a reader, I have to admit that although bromance is not rare in books, it is also not that popular. We do get a lot of close relationships between girls (best friends forever) and the usual but sometimes overrated shipping of a hero and a heroine.

I have one good reason why I love bromance.

–It’s rare to see two straight males who (even though sometimes it’s not really vocally done) loves and respects each other. TRUE BEAUTY RIGHT THERE!

Girls are affectionate by nature compared to male so to see straight males who are loyal and  are so darn loving to each other is too good not to be appreciated.

Here are my favorite bromance pair in books and shows:

1.Percy Jackson and Jason Grace of Heroes of Olympus

–Yeah, they might be rivals sometimes, but when they are together, they are awesome. And they both respect the hell out of each other.

2. Harry Potter and Ron Weasley of HP series

–Like for real.

3. Chaol and Dorian of Throne of Glass series

–They might have fought for Celaena’s feelings at first, but you can’t deny the loyalty they have for each other. I cried when Chaol won’t leave Dorian because of their friendship.

4. Wax and Wayne of Mistborn

They have the best bromance ever. Wax is the one who is more serious while Wayne is… Wayne.

4. Jem and Will (Infernal Device)

-I cryyyy. My heart is breaking.

5. Rhy and Kell of  A Darker Shade of Magic series

You don’t need me to explain. This two may not be real brothers buy the loyalty is too much for my small heart to handle.

6. Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson (Sherlock)

I’ve been Sherlocked ever since Sherlock called someone an idiot and John is too cute.

7. Tyrion and Bronn (GOT)

Just let me have these two.

8. Frodo and Sam (Lord of the Rings)

To be with a friend in an “end of the world journey” , that level of friendship needs to be appreciated.

9. Dean and Castiel (Supernatural)

Like hell. This two are awesome.

10. Scott and Stiles (Teenwolf)

Look at me and tell me that’s not bromance, I dare you.

***

Okay, so these are my bromance shipment and I do love to hear what you think of the bromance thing and who are your favorite bromance characters. ♥

YA series I will not finish

I saw this post by Kiwi of KiwiReads and I’m like “hell yeah, I’m gonna do this post.” Out of the 905 books that I have read ( I deserve to have the bragging rights), you bet my cat’s ass that I’ll take any chance to bitch about the YA books that didn’t work with me,

Here are the YA series that I will not continue reading:

1.  Beau Rivage series

Naaah. So many idiots in this one. Stalker hero and insta-love is in my shit list so it’s kinda obvious that after the disastrous book 1, I wouldn’t be reading the rest of the series.

2.Red Queen series

Some people like this but I really can’t stand the main heroine. I hate the way she became a wimpy fuck the moment she met those 2 princes. If this has been a story of pure rebellion without the epic fail romance, then this would have been a favorite.

3.Glass series

I love Snyder because she wrote Poison Study series where I have my Valek. But I have to admit, I hated this Glass series of hers. I actually read book 1 and 2 but when I found out that the heroine choose the wrong guy in the last book, I have to abandon ship immediately. I don’t understand why the guy who kidnapped, drugged and pretended to be her boyfriend then almost raped her is the the guy she choose in the end.

4. Daughter of Smoke and Bone series

Meh. Too mainstream for me. And the romance made me gag. The only reason why I bought the 1st book is because 1) it was in a sale and 2) the cover is pretty.

5. The Selection series

selection-series

I just don’t. No plot. Bullshit romance. And the characters makes me want to stab people.

6. Hush Hush series

Remember that time when every YA author wrote about angels, romance and angst? I do. And it was a horrible time in the literary world. So many stereotypes, cliches and stories with same formula.  Normal looking girl who doesn’t know she’s pretty + a mysterious new boy that everyone wants to bang+ a mystery+ a romance of a life time blah blah blah.

7. The Goddess Test series

A case of “not you-it’s me”.

I find this extremely boring which is funny because mythology is never boring. And did you know that Hades just became annoying in this retelling?! Like how dare you portray my favorite god that way!

8.Lux series

As much as I love the cover model, this is also one of those stories that has an over used plot.Girl is new+ boy is popular and hot+ boy has a secret thing..you know how it ends. I’ve read the first book and I won’t be picking up the rest.

9.Fins series

Although I love the first book, I decided not to pick the rest of the books in the series anymore. This is one of those books that you wished that it’s a standalone.

10. Between series

First few chapters in the 1st book and my bullshit radar is tingling.

And that’s it. Those are the YA series that I wouldn’t be finishing. I would have put 11 series but I can’t find the list that I made. 😛 How about you? What are the YA series that you will not finish?
